Squadrons of Weser VTOL planes are built to be used as invasion transports. Groups of VS8 hydrofoil landing crafts are also prepared. Bombing raids throughout 1940 knock out most of the radar stations, and U-boats sink most of Britain's merchant fleet. The invasion is launched on March 3rd 1941. Sqradrons of Me 109s and 110s tear through the sky, bombing and strafing anything that moves. Paratroops drop all over southern England, and VTOL planes carry more troops over. Landing craft beach and unload panzers and more troops. The Royal Navy tries to intervene but is attacked by aircraft, which sink most of the battleships and carriers. The simple fact that the USSR was the last power on the continent gave Stalin an idea that they might attack, but everyone was unprepared for the speed and force with which Germany would attack. In just a few days panzer units advanced more than 200 miles, wiping out the Red Army and taking millions prisoner. By July 1 German forces were approaching Moscow, Leningrad, and Kiev. on July 22nd, the germans take Moscow. the first tank to enter the red square is one of the new Tiger Tanks, that had just entered service. Once those three cities were taken, and defensive lines established, German soldiers set up defensive lines around the cities and waited for winter. In the south, in Ukraine, troops continued to advance to the edge of the Ukraine before digging in, as the winter there would be less harsh and come later. During the winter of 1942-1943 the defending Red Army did all it could to regroup. Rather than continue to conquer and overextend German forces, the German army sent groups of scout troops to round up all citizens within 100 miles of the front lines, and along with the already-captured soldiers and captive citizens of the areas already conquered, these people proved to be potent hostages.
